I ANH episod 4 när Han och Luke bröt in i interneringscellen för att rädda Lea, får de ett samtal på comen och frågar vad som händer. Han stammar och stutrar och frågar hur vakten gör i de mest försonliga tonerna. När det misslyckas skjuter han konsolen med sin blaster. Finns det någon förklaring till denna brist på professionalism och okunnighet om protokollet med tanke på att han hade rätt att bli en före detta kejserlig officer?
Enligt filmens officiella noveller, var Han nervös, han panikade och uppriktigt sagt hade vakten redan hört för mycket för att tro på honom. Vi har tre versioner av samma händelse och alla betonar att han aldrig någonsin haft chans.

“It didn’t sound like that,” a voice snapped back in a no-nonsense tone. “What happened?”
“Uh, well, one of the guards experienced a weapon malfunction,” Solo stammered, his temporary officialese lapsing into nervousness. “No problem now—we’re all fine, thanks. How about you?”
“We’re sending a squad up,” the voice announced suddenly.
