Förmodligen använde alverna ithildin på andra ställen än den ena dörren, men vi har ingen uttrycklig bekräftelse. Det verkar troligt att dvärgens månbrev var gjorda av ett ämne som inte skiljer sig från ithildin , eftersom de uppvisar liknande egenskaper:
