I filmen The Force Awakens, Rey, som bara var en scavenger på Jakku, som var kvar där på fem års ålder, verkar veta om Luke Skywalker, kraften, Jedi och deras förmodade utrotning.
Hur vet hon så mycket om de tidigare åren i tidigare filmer, växer upp som en ensam på en avlägsen planet?
Obs! Jag är medveten om att det är lätt att spekulera på det "hon hörde" konversationerna och lärde sig från resenärer som kom till Jakku, men jag letar efter kanonbevis som visar att hon hämtade upp information på så sätt eller på annat sätt som bevisar hur hon skulle veta om saker som är så specifika.
Rey har uppenbarligen hört myter och legender om Jedi från barndomen. Factbook Rey's Survival Guide nämner att hon vid flera tillfällen reste till "Sacred Villages" nära Nima Outpost och det

I avsaknad av någon faktisk Jedi tror jag att vi kan anta att hon trodde att det här är helt enkelt berättelser men det betyder inte att hon inte tog in informationen. Med tanke på hennes egna förmågor kan det också ha varit att hon fann någon personlig resonans med dessa myter.
Inom filmens officiella novellering finns det en ganska solid förklaring av vilka unga barn som lärs om Jedi (i förordet) och specifikt om Luke:
Legends told that they possessed abilities beyond the ordinary, including powers of the mind, of invisible strength, of foresight and wisdom. But as wise as they were, the Jedi were not wise enough to see the evil within their beloved Republic. Those whom the Jedi had trusted as friends and allies betrayed and murdered them.

Inom huvudrollen får vi en inblick i vad förståelsen för den genomsnittliga personen är:
“Apparently he’s carrying a map that leads to Luke Skywalker, and everyone’s insane to get their hands on it.”
“I thought Luke Skywalker was just a myth.”

“There have been all kinds of rumors and stories,” Han said. “The people who knew him the best think he went looking for the first Jedi Temple.” Rey looked stunned. “The Jedi were real?”
“I used to wonder that myself. A bunch of mumbo jumbo, I thought. Some magical power holding together good and evil, light and dark.” Han shook his head and smiled. “Crazy thing is, it’s all real. The Jedi, the Force, it’s…true. It’s all true.”
Finn’s brain hurt. His conception of the universe was falling apart. Did the Jedi and the Force actually exist? Had the First Order lied about them, too? Finn doubted a smuggler as seasoned as Han Solo would believe in such myths unless he had seen hard proof that they were real.
Du kanske också vill notera att Jedi enligt novellerna för prequeltrilogin inte bara var ett mytiskt samhälle utan en välintegrerad del av Galaktiska republiken. Obi-Wan och Anakin var uppenbarligen hushållsnamn på Coruscant och i hela republiken.
