När Harry arbetar ut att snitchen kan öppna i munnen och försöker det, fungerar det inte. Men varför öppnade det då Harry sa att han skulle dö? Hur hänvisar också ledtråden "Jag öppnar i slutet" till detta?
Anledningen till att det var tänkt att fungera på detta sätt var att uppståndelsestenen bara behövdes - och säkert - för Harry när han blev den äkta ägaren till Hallows, dödsmästaren. Vilket enligt Dumbldored ("King's Cross", DH ):
