Ar Batman Beyond 2.0-serierna en del av DCAU?

Så jag plockade upp dessa från Barnes & Noble förra veckan och läs igenom dem. De verkar verkligen som en fortsättning på många historier som berättas i DC Animated Universe (DCAU), som drar från både Batman: The Animated Series och Justice League Series samt två DCAU-filmer (Phantasmaskens och Return of the Joker) med vad som verkade som en betydande ansträngning för att behålla kanonisk noggrannhet med alla referenskällor. Slutligen försöker de komiska serierna att reproducera Bruce Timms animeringsstil.

Med tanke på allt detta måste jag fråga, DC försökte förlänga DCAU med detta? Det är verkligen en del av min head-canon nu, men jag är nyfiken på vad den ursprungliga avsikt var.

DC startade projektet Batman Beyond som svar på fläktbegäran. Det anses vara en del av DCU.

Först här är ett utdrag ur en Comics Alliance intervju med det kreativa laget bakom Batman Beyond 2.0 på deras ansträngningar för att upprätthålla kontinuiteten:

KYLE HIGGINS: We’re huge fans. The reason I took the job was because I was such a huge fan of the show. The DC Animated continuity was my introduction to DC Comics growing up. So I know that stuff inside and out, and I actually know it better than the books. So the opportunity to come in and continue Terry McGinnis’ story, taking him into the next stage of his superhero career (hence the “2.0”), was an opportunity I couldn’t pass up.

COMICS ALLIANCE: Given that this is continuing on from the cartoon continuity, how much room are you given to explore and push the story to somewhere new? Are you concerned about readers getting lost, if they come straight from watching the series to reading the new comic?

ADAM SIEGEL: We did a certain amount of homework to make sure we knew where everybody ended up, the last time they were seen [on the cartoon], where their story was at that point, and then jump off from there.

KYLE HIGGINS: And there are certain elements in our series that are informed by Adam Beechen’s run on Batman Beyond [1.0], that happened before ours. And there are other things that Adam did that are more directly influenced by DC-proper continuity, and that’s where it gets a little more...what’s continuity and what’s not? So we always go back to the show.

Slutligen, medan 2.0 -projektet respekterar DCAU-kronologin (enligt Higgins och Siegel-certifikatet) ser Beyond -serien som sittande innanför komiker bok universum, dvs DCU - se den här beskrivningen vid DC-webbplats, till exempel.

Batman Beyond 1.0 blandas i några DCU-element i DCU utan i 2.0 har försökt att hålla sig mer inom ramen för DCAU: s kontinuitet. Med detta sagt var avsikten med projektet, från DC: s synvinkel, att transplantas Beyond till DCU, inte nödvändigtvis att skapa fler kanoner för DCAU.
