ATC specialists may initiate abbreviated call signs of other aircraft by using the prefix and the last three digits/letters of the aircraft identification after communications are established.…The pilot may use the abbreviated call sign in subsequent contacts with the ATC specialist.
När man arbetar på ett icke-tornat fält har många piloter börjat identifiera sina flygplan efter typ och färg. Och om det inte finns många vita Cessnas i mönstret är det lätt att hålla reda på vem som är där. Vad du vill veta i mönstret är var är de andra planen och hur fort går de?
Typ och färg ger dig nödvändig information. För mig är det lättare att hålla reda på typ och färg än vad det är att hålla reda på N-nummer.
