"Den fjärde väggen", för den oinitierade, är den vägg som skiljer filmen från publiken, vilket gör att publiken kan vara åskådare för de avbildade händelserna. Famously blev den fjärde väggen rivad som slutet av en Pink Floyd-konsert i 1986-filmen, Ferris Beuller's Day Off .
I filmen tillbringade huvudpersonen nästan lika mycket tid att prata direkt till publiken som han interagerade med filmens andra tecken, fyllde in på plotlinjer, tankar och känslor så vi fick en djupare förståelse för vad som gick på i filmen.
Vad jag undrar är när när enheten användes först i film? Medan jag inte är filmstudent eller expert kan jag inte tänka på en enda film före FBDO där enheten används. Jag vet att John Cusacks karaktär i High Fidelity gjorde det ofta, och det användes i hela Fight Club, men det verkar som en uppenbar metod att verkligen hänga publiken på vad karaktären / känslorna känner. Eller är det bara anledningen till att inte då lämnar du lite för att tolka?

Whew.
