Jag letar efter titeln på 1980-talet sci-fi-bokklubbtrilogin om en familj med flera generationer. Skyddarna hade ansikten mot dem och matriarken hade en vit strejk i hennes hår. Rik familj, rymdfärg och det hade familjeträd i den. Jag fick den från Science Fiction Book Club någon gång på 80-talet.

Det är möjligt att du hänvisar till Dame McCaffreys serie The Rowan . Damia , hennes dotter, har en vit strejk i håret. De är definitivt rika. Space-faring är lite knepigare av en länk genom att de i allmänhet förbli planetbundna, men de gör gränssnitt med rymden. De släpptes på början av 90-talet, men det ligger nära din tidsram.
Kanske Stars of the Stars -serien efter Juanita Coulson . Bok 1, Morgondagens arv , släpptes av SFBC 1981 och den omslaget matchar din beskrivning:

Jack the Bodiless (1991) is the first book of the trilogy proper, followed by Diamond Mask (1994), and Magnificat (1996).
The Galactic Milieu Series by Julian May describes the struggle of the most powerful of the human metapsychics and their interaction with a galactic confederation of exotic beings.
The entire story takes place over roughly a 150 year period, starting with the birth of the narrator in 1945. History starts to diverge wildly and obviously from ours in the mid 80s as psychic research becomes mainstream due to the actual existence of people with operant mind powers.
