Betydelsen av ordet sekretess innebär att sökandet att förstöra ringen är / borde vara hemlig?
Hela uppdraget var tänkt att vara en "hemlighet" för Saruman, Sauron och någon annan som de inte kunde lita på.
De ville inte Sauron lära sig sitt uppdrag .
'Had I a host of Elves in armour of the Elder Days, it would avail little, save to arouse the power of Mordor.'
Från den sista raden säger Elrond tydligt att han inte ville ha Sauron att lära sig sin resa.
'If that is so, it will be some time before they can begin the hunt again. Of course the Enemy has other servants, but they will have to journey all the way to the borders of Rivendell before they can pick up our trail. And if we are careful that will be hard to find.'
The Company took little gear of war, for their hope was in secrecy not in battle.
De ville inte heller Saruman lära sig sitt uppdrag .

Sammantaget, när sekretess misslyckades och deras uppdrag avslöjades för både Sauron och Saruman, var deras främsta angelägenhet att skydda Frodo och Ring. Vad sägs om Galadriel?

Säkerheten i ringen under resan, såväl som ringbäraren och hans företag är målen att hålla saker så hemliga som möjligt.
Citatet är från kapitlet "The Ring Goes South" och både Elrond och Gandalf gör det klart att stealth är nyckel:

Senare i samma kapitel låter Boromir sitt horn och Elrond säger:

Till vilken Boromir svarar sin förståelse för att de kommer att ta skyddsåtgärder för att hålla sig dolda på resan (men det bryr sig inte om just nu):
