Genetic engineering, also called genetic modification, is the direct human manipulation of an organism's genetic material in a way that does not occur under natural conditions. Och Graff så bra som medgav det i slutet av "Den polska pojken" :

Så som apoorv020 sa, definitivt inte genteknik men du kan överväga det selektiv avel.

Direkt? Nej. Både Enders förälder är något religiös och där förmodligen står emot denna typ av modifiering. Det sägs också i en av bokens skuggserier att Ender var tänkt innan hans födelse har godkänts / beställts av myndigheten , så någon ändring är osannolik i ett visst fall.

Men:

All three children are shown to have inherited the intelligence of John Paul and his wife Theresa, though there are hints throughout the Shadow series that they may have also been genetically enhanced.

Det är möjligt, och underförstått, att Ender kan ha förändrats retroviralt, men det är inte heller genetiskt ingenjörskonst för den drabbade personen, men förstärker dem ... Jag är inte övertygad om att Ender förstärktes emellertid. Jag är öppen för idén om att Peter och Valentine ökades i utero ...

When authorizing Ender to be born, did the IF use genetic manipulation or genetic screening, assuming they were choosing from a pool of zygotes? How could the IF be sure that Ender would be the perfect mix of Peter and Valentine?

Orson Scott Card: The IF was not sure Ender would work out well. Peter and Valentine came so close, and were so off-the-charts excellent on some vital measures, that the IF thought the odds were very good that a third child from the same parents would be suitable for command.

Och som det verkar som att Graff inte höll tillbaka information från Ender efter att han lämnade Eros, hade han antagligen sagt Ender om det.
